Accessible Walk-In Shower Installation in Arizona — Completed in One Day
AZ Fast Bath installs accessible walk-in showers throughout the East Valley and Greater Phoenix metro area — replacing tub-shower combos and standard showers with safe, barrier-free designs built for aging in place. Every accessible shower we install combines zero-threshold or low-threshold entry, properly placed grab bars, and your choice of seating configuration with the same premium grout-free wall panel systems we use on every project. One day. One crew. Completely finished.
The Bathroom Is the Most Dangerous Room in the House
Falls are the leading cause of injury-related emergency room visits for adults 65 and older — and the bathroom is where most of them happen. The combination of wet, slippery surfaces, tight spaces, and the physical demand of stepping over a tub ledge creates hazards that most homeowners live with for years without addressing. The traditional tub-shower combo is the worst offender: a 14-to-18-inch step-over height, no secure grab points, and a wet surface directly below.
An accessible walk-in shower eliminates every one of those hazards in a single project. Zero-threshold entry removes the step-over entirely. Properly placed grab bars give secure handholds at entry, within the shower, and at the seating area. A fold-down or built-in bench means you never have to stand unsupported if your balance or endurance is a concern. These changes do not make a bathroom look institutional — with premium panel systems and matching hardware, they are invisible as safety features and simply look like a well-designed shower.
Accessible Walk-In Shower Features
Every accessible shower we install is configured during the free in-home estimate. You choose which features to include — all of them are available on all three of our wall panel collections and are installed on the same day as the rest of the project.
Zero-Threshold and Low-Threshold Entry
A zero-threshold shower has no curb at the floor level — the shower floor is flush with or nearly flush with the bathroom floor. There is nothing to step over. A low-threshold entry uses a minimal curb of one inch or less, which is sufficient to contain water while still being easy to step over or navigate with a walker or wheelchair. We discuss threshold options during your free estimate based on your bathroom floor layout and drainage configuration.
Grab Bars
We install ADA-compatible grab bars in any configuration your shower requires. Grab bars are available in three orientations — horizontal for entry and exit support, diagonal for transitioning between standing and seated positions, and vertical for standing stability within the shower. All grab bars are mounted directly into wall studs or blocking behind the panel system for a structural hold rated to ADA standards. Hardware finishes match your showerhead and enclosure hardware — chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, or oil-rubbed bronze.
Fold-Down Bench Seat
A wall-mounted fold-down bench seat in teak or composite material. Folds flat against the wall when not in use, taking up no floor space in the shower. Fold-down seats are popular in smaller shower footprints where a built-in bench would reduce the usable standing area. Rated to hold well over 300 lbs and available in all three wall panel collections.
Built-In Bench Seat
A permanent bench seat built into the corner or side wall of the shower as part of the panel system. Provides a stable, solid seating surface that is fully waterproof and matches the wall panel finish. Built-in benches are sized to your shower footprint during the design phase and are the most stable seating option available. Standard in larger walk-in shower conversions.
Hand Shower with Adjustable Slide Bar
A wall-mounted slide bar with a handheld shower head on a flexible hose. The head adjusts to any height on the bar — useful for seated showering, for directing water to specific areas, or for caregivers assisting with bathing. Compatible with all shower configurations and available in all hardware finishes.
Wide Entry Opening
We can widen the shower entry opening during the remodel to accommodate a walker, rollator, or wheelchair. Entry width is determined during the estimate based on your bathroom layout and framing. A wider entry also improves usability for anyone who finds standard shower openings cramped or difficult to navigate.
Plan Before You Need To
Most homeowners who contact us about an accessible shower do so after a fall or a close call — or after a family member has suggested it is time to make a change. That is the right instinct, but it is easier and less stressful to make the change before urgency forces the decision. A one-day accessible shower remodel scheduled at a time of your choosing is a very different experience from trying to arrange a renovation during a recovery period.
Installing an accessible walk-in shower now also protects your ability to stay in your home longer. For many East Valley homeowners, the alternative to aging in place is a move to an assisted living facility — a decision that can cost significantly more per year than a shower remodel costs once. An accessible bathroom removes one of the most common barriers to staying home independently.
Accessible Shower Wall Panel Collections
Every accessible walk-in shower we install uses one of three premium grout-free wall panel collections. All three support full grab bar, bench, and accessibility configurations — and none of them look institutional. They look like high-quality showers that happen to be safe.
Euro Series
Contemporary panels manufactured by Fibo with clean lines and a seamless finish. Grab bars and hardware in brushed nickel or matte black integrate naturally with the Euro Series aesthetic. A strong choice for homeowners who want a modern master bath with full accessibility features.
Signature Series
Our most popular collection for accessible shower installations. Realistic stone, granite, and marble-look patterns from Sentrel and the Onyx Collection — grab bars in matching hardware finishes disappear into the design rather than advertising their function. The right choice when the shower needs to look premium and feel safe.
Traditional Series
Full customization for accessible shower builds with specific requirements. Choose every detail — panel design, hardware finish, grab bar placement and orientation, seat type and dimensions, niche layout, and entry configuration. The Traditional Series is the right choice for homeowners building a long-term aging-in-place solution around specific mobility or caregiver needs.
How a One-Day Accessible Shower Installation Works
- Free in-home estimate — We visit your home, assess the bathroom layout, discuss accessibility goals, show panel and hardware samples, and provide a complete itemized written estimate at no charge. We talk through every feature — threshold height, grab bar placement, seat type — so the finished shower works for you specifically.
- Materials ordered and scheduled — Once you approve the estimate, we order your custom panels and any accessibility hardware, then schedule your installation date. Lead time is typically two to four weeks.
- One-day installation — Our crew removes the existing shower or tub down to the studs, installs the waterproof wall substrate with blocking for grab bars at the specified locations, and installs the wall panels, shower base, grab bars, bench seat, glass enclosure, and all fixtures — all in a single day for most projects.
- Final walkthrough and cleanup — We walk you through every feature of the finished shower, confirm grab bar placement and bench height work as expected, answer all questions, and clean up completely before leaving your home.

Frequently Asked Questions — Accessible Walk-In Shower in Arizona
What features make a shower accessible?
An accessible shower is designed to minimize fall risk and maximize usability for people with limited mobility, balance concerns, or strength limitations. The core features are zero-threshold or low-threshold entry (no step-over), ADA-compatible grab bars in appropriate placements, a seating option (fold-down or built-in bench), and a hand shower with adjustable slide bar for seated or standing use. Additional features like a wider entry opening or specific grab bar orientations can be added based on individual needs.
Can you add grab bars to any shower panel system?
Yes — grab bars are available on all three of our wall panel collections (Euro, Signature, and Traditional Series). Grab bars must be mounted into wall studs or solid blocking — not just into the panel itself. We install blocking at the specified grab bar locations behind the panel system during installation, so every bar is anchored to structural framing and rated to ADA load standards. Hardware finishes match your other shower fixtures.
What is zero-threshold entry and why does it matter?
Zero-threshold entry means the shower floor is flush with or nearly flush with the bathroom floor — there is no curb to step over. A standard tub requires lifting your leg 14 to 18 inches over the tub edge. Even a standard shower curb requires a 4-to-6-inch step-up. For someone with hip, knee, or balance limitations, that step-over is a real fall risk. Zero-threshold entry eliminates it completely and also makes the shower accessible with a walker or wheelchair if needed in the future.
How much does an accessible walk-in shower cost in Arizona?
Pricing depends on shower size, wall panel collection (Euro, Signature, or Traditional Series), glass enclosure type, and the specific accessibility features included — grab bar count and placement, seat type, threshold configuration, and entry width. We provide a complete itemized written estimate during your free in-home consultation. All accessibility features are priced individually so you can see exactly what each addition costs. Financing through Wisetack is available for qualified Arizona homeowners.
Is an accessible shower only for people with limited mobility?
No. Accessible shower features benefit people at every level of mobility — and they are best installed before they are urgently needed. Zero-threshold entry and grab bars are useful for anyone who showers after surgery, recovers from illness, or simply wants a shower that is safer to use as they age. Many homeowners in their 50s and 60s install accessible showers proactively as part of a long-term plan to stay in their home independently — not because they currently need them, but because the cost and disruption of installation are far lower now than they would be in an emergency.
